  • Winter Scramble
  • Mileage: 6.0 mi
  • Elevation Gain: 3,600 ft
To be arranged
Despite modest elevation gain and mileage, Quartz is a relatively ambitious goal. It involves sustained travel up steep and at times brushy terrain and a steep, open traverse just below the summit. Here's two trip reports: http://alpinelakesaficionado.blogspot.com/2011/02/quartz-4641-bessequartz-4487-2711.html; http://www.nwhikers.net/forums/viewtopic.php?t=7988983&highlight;=quartz Quartz will be plenty for us: we wouldn't attempt Besequartz. As always this time of year, weather and snow conditions may dicatate a late change of plans.
