Winter Scramble - Point 7029, Icicle Ridge

A beautiful ridge run with stunning vistas in all directions (not the least of which are The Enchantments just across the valley ;). A strenuous traverse (5000’ gain, 12 miles) along Icicle Ridge that ascends the 4th of July trail, summits Point 7029, then finishes at the trailhead near Leavenworth.

  • Challenging
  • Mileage: 12.0 mi
  • Elevation Gain: 5,000 ft
  • High Point Elevation: 7,029 ft

After dropping off shuttle cars at the trailhead near Leavenworth we’ll carpool to migrate our party to the 4th of July trailhead.  On return the dropped off cars will allow drivers to retrieve their cars from the 4th of July trailhead.

Hard to say what the conditions will be owing to ‘interesting’ weather oscillations in recent years (will have a better idea as the trip date approaches).   With little snow the only scrambling will be Point 7029 with the rest a trail hike, beaucoup snow and the traverse will be all scrambling.  Photos from past trips can be seen here.
