Based on the high avalanche conditions and very deep fresh snow we will find, I have decided to change the destination to Mt Catherine via the Hyak Nordic Pass Trail.

It might be border line safe to go up to Cave Ridge, but we are going to wade through so much fresh snow that going up even gentle grades is going to be major work. I think it will be a perfect day to follow the Nordic Pass Trail. This area gets quite a bit of foot and ski traffic, so when it has not snowed for awhile, there are so many tracks around that it loses some of its appeal. That won’t be an issue on Saturday morning. It should look like wilderness to us. r>
MEETING PLACE / TIME: We will meet at precisely 7:00 AM at the Tibbetts Valley Park Park and Ride at SR-900 & Newport Way in Issaquah. This is the P&R; south and across the street from the parking garage which is being built at the Issaquah Park and Ride. Directions to Park and Ride Look for me by my red Dodge Caravan. Call me on my cell phone if you will be more than 10 minutes late and don't want us to leave without you. 425-442-6411.

ESTIMATED RETURN TIME: We should be back by 5 PM. Earlier if the weather is nasty. Avalanche Center: www.nwac.us/products/SABSEA
