Strenuous & beautiful winter trip of ~10 miles and ~4000' with views of the SW aspects of Mount Rainier. The extra elevation gain (from the normal ~3200') is due to going over the bump on Rampart Ridge (Point 4952) versus side hilling in snowshoes (a more strenuous undertaking), as well as a bonus side trip (time permitting) to the overlook at 4100' at the SW end of Rampart Ridge on our way back down to Longmire. This destination is a reschedule from Satulick (~14 miles and ~4000') that the recent heavy snowfalls have made a questionable goal due to the length of the trip.
