Strenuous and beautiful trip of ~10 miles and ~3600' elevation gain. Views of the south side of Rainier as well as Pyramid Peak and the Tatoosh Range. The elevation gain is ~3600' instead of the normal ~3200' due to passing over the 4952' bump which entails an extra 200' both going in as well as out. The start from Longmire (with heated restrooms that are greatly appreciated ;) can still be accessible when other trips are canceled due to avalanche and other driving hazards. Photos from prior trips can be seen here.
