  • Winter Scramble
  • Elevation Gain: 1,500 ft
7:45 AM at I-90, Exit 38, Far Side parking area
NOTE: While the listing says the balcony, we will actually be doing DIRTY HARRY PEAK, elevation 4680'. This will be a mentored lead for Eric Hammer. Dirty Harry is one of the peaks along the ridge between Mailbox Peak and Mt. Defiance. The elevation gain is around 3,300 vertical feet and the round-trip mileage is around 9 miles. If we feel lucky, summitting Dirty Harry Peak should make our day. In terms of gear, aside from standard scrambling gear, bring snowshoes, which may be needed near the top. We will meet in the parking area near the trailhead at 7:45am. Directions: If heading east on I-90, take Exit 38. Following the signs to the State Fire Training Center, turn right onto old U.S. Route 10 (SE Homestead Valley Rd) and follow it for 1.9 miles. At that point, pass underneath I-90 to the parking area just in front of a yellow gate. We will meet in the parking area. Here is a link to directions from Bellevue: We will leave the cars around 7:55, so please be on time. Google maps says the driving time is 37 minutes from Bellevue. An email with additional information will be sent out a couple of days before the trip. Forecast near the trailhead (North Bend):;=-121.78677749999997&site;=all&smap;=1&searchresult;=North%20Bend%2C%20WA%2C%20USA Any questions? Please contact Eric Hammer at or 425-681-6491.
