Whitewater Packraft - Snoqualmie River (South fork)
A short run of a river that's relatively technical for class II. A late afternoon run so we don't have to take a whole day off work.

Our intention is to spend a late afternoon/early evening paddling the South Fork of the Snoqualmie, a relatively short but technical class II+ river close to the Seattle area.
This trip is contingent upon the river flow running at a reasonably safe and fun level. If the conditions don't look good a few days out, we can consider doing the class II+ Skykomish Railroad Bridge to Big Eddy stretch or the class II Green River Yo-yo, which are longer drives but similarly short on the water, or just reschedule to a different day. Most other rivers will have a longer drive and longer paddling time, and the whole idea of this trip is the convenience.
The South Fork Snoqualmie is more technical than the Upper Middle Fork, for comparison. Waskowitz Canyon is bouldery and the weir lower down can catch logs, which we will scout and possibly portage. At low flows, the river is technical but not pushy, so it's great for paddlers of all experience levels to practice their skills. I haven't run it at higher flows but I understand it gets more difficult. There is a chance of wood hazard in some of the narrower sections, and likely at the weir.
I don't have leader's permission turned on but I expect that any recent whitewater course students feel solid in their skills (I would strongly prefer you having done at least one other Class II trip since the course) because everyone needs to be a competent boater in case there is wood hazard. If you have any questions, please email me. I'd also like to have two other paddlers with more experience who can help as assistant leaders - if you sign up as participants, I can promote you to assistant leader, or just send me an email. If we don't have enough experienced folks on the roster, we may have to cancel the trip.
If we meet at 3 PM, it's a very short shuttle, and the run should take less than 2 hours, which leaves plenty of time before sunset (we will bring headlamps anyways of course). There isn't much room for parking at the take-out, so we may move our meeting location to somewhere else in North Bend and carpool the last mile.
Meet at 3 PM at the NW corner of the bridge of 436th Ave SE across the South Fork Snoqualmie: https://maps.app.goo.gl/D8GXpQowksuyNNdN6
Note that we may move this meeting place to somewhere in North Bend itself and carpool the last mile, due to limited parking at the take out.
From the take-out, we will caravan to the put-in at the Twin Falls trailhead: https://maps.app.goo.gl/1LVe4typpdNmMcp19
