Whitewater Packraft - Chewuch River: Camp Four to Five Mile Bridge (The Middle) and Five Mile Bridge to Winthrop (The Lower)

This is an exploratory trip. This is a multi-day, car camping based packraft trip to the Methow Valley. Actual paddled routes will be chosen from the Twisp River, Methow River, and the Chewuch River based on flow conditions. We can camp at any of several forest service campgrounds in the area, or disperse camp in the national forest, or pick your favorite other accomodations in the area.

If you have paddled class 3 or higher trips with me before, feel free to sign up at your convenience.

If you have not paddled with me under those circumstances, please use the Request Leader Permission feature.

There is about 81 miles of class 2 to class 4 whitewater runs on the three rivers listed below.

You can read the route descriptions for the three rivers here:

Methow River Whitewater Runs — The Mountaineers

Twisp River: Buttermilk Creek to town of Twisp — The Mountaineers

Chewuch River: Camp Four to Five Mile Bridge (The Middle) and Five Mile Bridge to Winthrop (The Lower) — The Mountaineers

Trips will be picked based mostly on river flows and specific conditions at the time. Also, the skills of the group will be considered. Please know that one of the preferred runs is the Twisp River, which has a several mile long continuous class 3 section which has a gradient of almost 70 feet per mile.

The details of a meeting time and place will be worked out in the weeks leading up to the trips. More than likely, we will meet at a local campground.
