Urban Walk - Seward, Lakewood & Genesee Parks Stairway Walk

The second in a series of afternoon urban seasonal Farmer's market loop walks. This week, Columbia City Farmer's Market! The Goal of these walks: Park at the market location before it opens, go for a nice loop walk, and support the market at the end!

  • Easy
  • Moderate
  • Mileage: 4.57 mi
  • Elevation Gain: 317 ft
  • Pace: 2.5 MPH

This walk will be the second for 2025 in a series of afternoon walks starting and ending at seasonal neighborhood farmer's markets. Columbia City Farmer's Market is open from 3-7pm May 7 - October 8, 2025.  For more information about this market, visit their website: https://seattlefarmersmarkets.org/ccfm

By departing at 2:30pm, I hope to return to the market location around 5:00pm.  The walk routes have been adjusted and shortened to around 5 miles this year so we have energy to peruse and support the market at the end of the walk!

This route will take us south, through Hitt's Hill Park.  From there, we will continue east until we reach Third Place Books (restroom/snack stop). We then head North east and down the south Ferdinand street stairs before heading north along Lake Washington. In the home stretch of our walk, we make our way through Genesse Park and into Columbia City where the Farmer's Market will be underway!

I love the idea of supporting local farmer's and growers while getting a good walk in and exploring a neighborhood. I hope these walks will bring mountaineers to new places in Seattle and showcase the diverse collection of seasonal markets this city has to offer.

Meet at the outdoor dining area at Columbia City PCC (3610 S Edmunds St, Seattle, WA 98118) at 2:30 PM gear on and ready to go.  This area is served by the Light Rail 1 line.  There is also street parking in the neighborhood.
