Urban Walk - Seattle Olmsted 70: Section 6

Walk Section 6 of the Seattle Olmsted 70, starting at Rainier Beach Playfield, to celebrate the first anniversary of the 75-mile Seattle Olmsted Circuit. Other walkers will complete each of the 12, roughly 6 mile sections. Celebrate after your walk at one of four Seattle pubs along the trail.

  • Easy/Moderate
  • Easy
  • Mileage: 6.7 mi
  • Elevation Gain: 767 ft
  • Pace: 1.5 to 2.0 mph

Meet in the parking area outside the Rainier Beach Community Center shortly before 9am.

Join fellow urban walkers, hikers  and guests to follow the Chief Sealth Trail south then cross high over I-5 and rail lines to reach the Duwamish River. We're in the center of Seattle's Boeing-centered aviation industry. Follow north along the river to  South Park where we'll catch a Metro Bus to avoid the difficult State Highway 509 intersections. Wrap up the walk at DubSea Coffee in White Center (Greenbridge neighborhood).  Return via bus and light rail to Rainier Beach.  Walkers from sections 4, 5 and 6 are invited to gather at a  Colombia City pub after their walks.

Note--both mileage and elevation gained are reduced by the short, safety-first bus ride.
