Family Overnighter! Take your family off the grid while staying at this rustic cabin at the edge of the Gifford Pinchot National Forest near Randle. Perfect for wintertime get away and designed to be combined with Pacific Crest Snow Shoeing or on-your-own snow or forest activities on Sunday.

  • For Beginners (Getting Started Series)

Participants in the Pacific Crest Family Snow Shoeing trip can head to the cabin after their trip to White Pass.  Others joining them can choose to meet at the cabin at 5:00 to get settled in.  Plan on an evening of family indoor fun.  No electronic entertainment other than music.  Dinner will be prepared together on the woodstove and games, puzzles, stories, or crafts will be the evening entertainment.  Outdoor exploring will be based on weather and inclination.

Departure by noon on Sunday.

Cabin is off the grid with power supplied by solar and hydoelectic power from waterfalls.  Running water provided by filtered creek water.  Heat and cooking on a traditional woodstove.  Two futons and 11 mats for sleeping.  One standard bathroom.  Cabin is set in 40 acres of woodlands and wetlands.

High clearance vehicle is optimal but not required to get to this cabin.  You may have to walk 150 final feet if you don't have a 4 wheel drive.  Good walking shoes a must!

Participants should bring sleeping bags/pillows but there are mats and spare beds to sleep on.  Warm clothes needed since it may take awhile to heat up the cabin.

Joint dinner plans will be made after roster is full---bring one snack to share in the evening and bring your own breakfast.

No phones, computers, video or other electronic games allowed except phones for emergency or planning use.  Please bring a game or story to share.

If you plan on snow activities at White Pass or forest hiking on Sunday, please bring appropriate gear.  Leaders can provide you with ideas for activities based on your interests.
