Urban Adventure - Private Residence

Urban Adventure - Private Residence

It's Spider Time! This Family activity will include learning about the different kinds of spiders we have in our region and going on a neighborhood hunt for as many different kinds as possible, examining them and their webs with hand lenses and close up cameras. If you love or hate spiders, this is the activity for you, because you can't help but find them fascinating! Good for ages 4 and up!

We will meet at a West Olympia private residence at 5:00pm, probably outside, for an orientation to types of spider bodies, eyes, webs, and more. You can eat a sack dinner during the presentation if you would like.

Then we will visit surrounding gardens and forests looking for any spiders and sharing what we find. We will compare body types, eyes, webs, colors, preferred homes, their food, and anything else interesting we find.

We will  plan to end around 7:00.

Bring your sack dinner, a hand lense and close up camera if you have one and any bug guides you would like to share.

I will have hand lenses to share.

We will put markers up where we find spiders and then go back as a group to share what we find.  We will not be touching or harming spiders or their webs.

We will reschedule if it is raining.

Enjoy spider snacks at the end! (not made from real spiders or dead bugs!)
