DAY 1 OF SOUTHWEST WA WEEKEND - BE SURE THAT YOU HAVE SIGNED UP FOR DAY 2!
- We will caravan from the park & rides at designated times and head east on I-90, stopping at the Indian John Hill rest stop near Cle Elum for a bathroom break.
- Lunch at Perkins Restaurant in Ellensburg around 12:30pm.
After we depart Perkins (around 1:30pm), we'll head over to the Olmstead Place State Park to photograph the old barn there (30 minutes).
- Next, we'll head south on I-82, stopping at the Vista Point viewpoint to photograph the valley and the wind turbine at the site (15 minutes).
Our next stop will be the Teapot Dome Gas Station near Zillah to photograph this unique structure (30 minutes).
- Backtracking slightly, we'll take US-97 to Maryhill State Park and set up camp. There are plenty of spots left to reserve and only one night is needed. I am in site #66. Reservations can be made here.
- We will pool our resources and have a potluck dinner at the park. Be sure to bring something to share!
- NOTE: THE OBSERVATORY IS UNDER REPAIR THROUGH AUGUST, SO WE WILL BE SKIPPING THE EVENING SHOW.
- After dinner, we'll drive to Maryhill to get sunset photos with the memorial and Columbia River.
9:45am - Green Lake Park & Ride (north parking lot) on 65th St. in Seattle; departing at 10am
10:15am - Eastgate Park & Ride along I-90 in Bellevue; departing at 10:30am.
If you need a ride, be sure to contact somebody on the roster and make arrangements. Since this a car camp trip (1 night), there's not always room for additional tents/gear.
Be sure to make your camping reservation right away...they fill up fast!! Reservations can be made here.
You can sleep in your car/van or bring a tent, sleeping bag, etc. If you don't have gear, it's up to you to borrow some, not the trip leader.
