9:45am - Green Lake Park & Ride (north parking lot) on 65th St. in Seattle; departing at 10am
10:15am - Eastgate Park & Ride along I-90 in Bellevue; departing at 10:30am.
If you need a ride, be sure to contact somebody on the roster and make arrangements. Since this a car camp trip (1 night), there's not always room for additional tents/gear.
Be sure to make your camping reservation right away...they fill up fast!! Reservations can be made here.
You can sleep in your car/van or bring a tent, sleeping bag, etc. If you don't have gear, it's up to you to borrow some, not the trip leader.
DAY 1 OF SOUTHWEST WA WEEKEND - BE SURE THAT YOU HAVE SIGNED UP FOR DAY 2!
- We will caravan from the park & rides at designated times and head east on I-90, stopping at the Indian John Hill rest stop near Cle Elum for a bathroom break.
- Lunch at Perkins Restaurant in Ellensburg around 12:30pm.
- After we depart Perkins (around 1:30pm), we'll head over to the Olmstead Place State Park to photograph the old barn there (30 minutes).
- Next, we'll head south on I-82, stopping at the Vista Point viewpoint to photograph the valley and the wind turbine at the site (15 minutes).
- Our next stop will be the Teapot Dome Gas Station near Zillah to photograph this unique structure (30 minutes).
- Backtracking slightly, we'll take US-97 to Maryhill State Park and set up camp. There are plenty of spots left to reserve and only one night is needed. I am in site #66. Reservations can be made here.
- We will pool our resources and have a potluck dinner at the park. Be sure to bring something to share!
- NOTE: THE OBSERVATORY IS UNDER REPAIR THROUGH AUGUST, SO WE WILL BE SKIPPING THE EVENING SHOW.
- After dinner, we'll drive to Maryhill to get sunset photos with the memorial and Columbia River.
