Urban Adventure - Bridle Trails State Park

Urban Adventure - Bridle Trails State Park

We will take a walk through Bridle Trails State Park to look for and try to identify fungi. We will be focusing on all fungi finds, not just edibles or psychedelics. Our local mycological society has an ongoing survey in the park in which 189 species have been identified. Not all of those are Spring observations, but many are. Should be fun and educational.

Meet at 47.655399, -122.185373 - This is a parking lot just South of 160th at about NE 53rd St.  A rough address is 5421 116th Ave NE, Kirkland WA 98033.
BRING YOUR DISCOVER PASS, this is a state park.  This parking is near to the horse arenas so there may be large horse trailers parking there as well.  Try not to use their designated parking spots.
Meet at 8:00am in the parking area listed above.

Feel free to bring a field guide which has local fungi information.  We will stop periodically to dive into a book or take pictures, possibly even make a quick sketch.  A field lens will be useful as well!
If you enjoy birds, bring some binoculars!  The Kinglets are closer the ground to forage at this time of year and that's always a treat.  Lots of species of woodpeckers here as well.
We will wrap up at 12:00pm so bring a snack and water, but should be out in time for you to go find your lunch.  Dress appropriately for the weather, bring your 10 and some layers. :)  This is a rain or shine event, but will be cancelled in the occurrence of strong winds.
