Park near the soccer fields in the area in the Issaquah Highlands called Central Park. (Check the map for the coordinates - it's the white loop just north of where the coordinates are places.) P ark on the west side of the loop, as the trail departs from there. Additional good news: the parking here is free and no passes are required.
Departure Objective: shoes on, talk accomplished, and running by 5:15.
Goals:
- - Build community and enjoy getting outside
- - On the trail for 60 minutes.
- - Have fun!
PACE:
I expect we'll come in with an overall pace (not just moving time) of around 11 minute miles. We may have to slow down some as the entire run will be in the dark.
TERRAIN:
The Grand Ridge Trail is virtually all well-groomed single track in a tranquil and heavily wooded area. Expect low elevation gain (compared to the other hills in the Issaquah Alps). The trail can get a little muddy in places and there's a slight chance (especially slight after nightfall) that we could run into a mountain biker (as this trail leads to Duthie!).
Expectations:
- Please read and prepare to follow our participant guidelines found here: https://www.mountaineers.org/about/branches-committees/foothills-branch/committees/foothills-branch-trail-running-committee/documentation/trail-runner-responsibnility/view
- Be prepared for the conditions! Expect the fall (i.e. most likely wet) running conditions of the pacific northwest and plan accordingly. If you need help selecting gear or if you have questions, please reach out to me. Feel free to bring dry clothes to change into.
- Please make sure you bring a good headlamp.
