From I-5 North drive to Bellingham. Take Sunset/Mt. Baker Hiway (#542) exit. Proceed on Mt. Baker Hiway past Glacier (stop in at the Ranger Station to get a trail head permit) to Road 3065. I believe there is a Road maintenance shed close-by. Turn left on 3065. Sign should say how many miles to "Tomyhoi Lake Trailhead". Park at trail head. Road is bumpy but drivable.
Contact Nate Brown for carpooling.
Our August Wilderness Weed Watchers group hike will go up to to the Tomyhoi Lake area. From the parking area, the trail climbs to its highpoint at Gold Run Pass (5400 feet), 2 miles and 1800 feet elevation gain. Looking NE you can see Mt. Larrabee and the American Border Peak. Views from here of the Canadian mountains, Tomyhoi Peak and Mt. Shuksan. Weed Watchers hikes are all pretty slow paced, as you need to keep an eye out for weeds!
