This will be the first maintenance trip of the season to check on Winter storm damage to the lookout. At least one rafter is reported to be cracked. The trip will likely include significant snow travel in steep terrain. Harnesses and ice axes will be needed. Pickets and crampons may be necessary. If the weather is good we will paint and repair broken window panes. We may repair the rafter if something more urgent is not necessary. The weather forecast will determine what tools and materials we need to carry in. Preference will be given to experienced professional glaziers, carpenters and painters. The road on 6/20/08 was blocked by fallen trees before 6 miles from the Mt Loop Hwy. On 6/27/08 the road is still blocked by fallen trees, now 6.4 miles from the Mt Loop Hwy.
