SHADOW Lake Nature Preserve Trail Maintenance

We will be performing trail maintenance on the SHADOW Lake Nature Preserve Boardwalk trail and amphibian pond area. Duties will include pruning, invasive removal,  foreign object removal, hazard reporting, etc.

Full bathrooms are available on-site, as well as a port-a-potty. The boardwalk trail is 0.2 miles long and runs through delicate habitat so bathroom usage must be restricted to bathrooms. If you are concerned about the distance to the bathroom, reach out to the trip leader ahead of time to request being stationed closer to the bathroom.

There are 3 resting points with benches along the boardwalk where Mountaineers can rest their belongings as they work.

Lunch will be taken at 12:30, and volunteers are encouraged to take breaks as needed. Please bring your own lunch, we will be providing light snacks and drinks as a thank you for your help.

Our meeting point is at 21656 184th Avenue SE Renton, WA 98058 at the Richter Education Center, there is a parking lot and street parking available. When you arrive, please wait at the picnic tables. There is a full bathroom at this site.

At 10am, we will begin our safety debriefing and project overview, as well as emergency procedures. Please be ready to go with all of your things at this time to ensure a timely start. We will distribute tools and assign roles during this time.

At 10:15, we will head onto the trail for maintenance tasks. There are three resting spots with benches along the way, bags and belongings can be left there.
