Last Saturday there was quite a bit of snow still on the upper half of the trail. Who knows what it'll be like on Sunday. We may have to do some kick-stepping on the way up and/or some plunge-stepping on the way down. If you have a certain pair of boots you like under those conditions, I'd bring them. Also, if your comfort level goes up when using hiking poles on uneven or rough terrain, I'd bring them as well. If the weather is clear, we'll get great views of Rainier, Baker, Shuksan, Glacier, Stewart, etc. etc. (i.e. it's worth it!!)
