Stewardship - Hamma Hamma Campground
Hamma Hamma Campground Cleanup -- We will be helping the Olympic National Forest prepare campgrounds in the Forest for the opening of camping season by clearing winter debris from roadways, campsites, camp facilities and trails. SPECIAL NOTE: If we have good weather and can recruit large enough crew we will attempt Lena Creek Campground cleanup on the same day. (5 min between Lena Creek CG and Hamma Hamma CG)

In general the Campground Clean Up issues include, clearing roads and campsites of leaves, limbs, down trees, remove ashes from campfire rings, clear all winter debris from the areas around restrooms, kiosks and other facilities.
There are 15 campsites accessible vault toilets Pay station, an Information Bulletin Board and 1.5 mile Living Legacy Interpretive loop trail. This year’s actual Campground Clean Up issues will be uncovered by a scouting team in early April.
At the Campground we will begin with a Tailgate Safety Briefing for all participants. (Safety is our #1 Goal) We will form into teams and disperse to begin work on the cleanup activities. The Forest Service RecShed staff plan to participate in this project and will provide gas powered backpack leaf blowers and may provide powered brushing tools. Arrangements may need to be made for Chainsaw support if our scouting trip finds any down trees and large limbs.
NOTE: If we have dry weather forecast and if we can recruit large enough crew we will attempt Lena Creek Campground cleanup on the same day. (5 min between Lena Creek CG and Hamma Hamma CG)
Lena Creek has 13 campsites and is 1.7 miles from the Hamma Hamma CG via N Hamma Hamma Rd/NF-25
We will meet at the Hamma Hamma Campground entrance at 9:00 a.m.
From Hoodsport, WA drive 14 miles north on Highway 101. Then turn left onto Hamma Hamma River Road/Forest Service Road 25 and travel approximately 6 miles to the campground. Estimated drive time from Olympia is 1 hr 10 min.
NOTE: For those interested in Car Pooling , we can meet at Haggen's Food and Drugs at 7:45 a.m. - set up the car pool and depart immediately.

Required Equipment
- The Ten Essentials, day pack, snacks, water and lunch
- Participants will need to dress for the weather, wear work or hiking boots and be prepared for a weather change.
- Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) will be provided including hard hat, work gloves and eye protection.
- Tools will be provided.
- Crew members can choose to bring their own PPE and hand tools suitable to the tasks described above.
