Stewardship - Gold Creek Basin

Issaquah Transit Center (SR-900) at  7am.

Our Mountaineers crew will assist full time NWAC staff at a Trailhead Outreach station at Gold Creek from 8:00am to 2:00pm.

Participants must also attend one of two mandatory NWAC training sessions via Zoom online video conference 6pm - 7pm on either Tuesday, January 7 or Wednesday, January 8.  See info below.

NWAC's Trailhead Outreach program supports NWAC's educational mission by reaching out to people who do not self-identify as being at risk and may not even think to seek out avalanche education or check the daily avy forecasts. They are NWAC's attempt to reach people before they reach avalanche terrain. More info can be found in postings on the NWAC blog and website. 

NWAC requires that all Trailhead Outreach volunteers attend a one hour training session via Zoom online video conference.  The last two training sessions of the season are 6pm - 7pm on Tuesday, January 7 and Wednesday, January 8.  Participants will need to contact NWAC in advance in order to get added to the Zoom call. The Trip Leader will provide the necessary details after you sign up.

Even though this is an easy event in terms of strenuousness, we will still be outside all day in winter at an elevation of about 2500'. Be sure to bring adequate clothing, food, and gear for staying warm and hydrated outdoors all day. Because we will be not be doing anything strenuous, this will require more insulation than is required for an active trip.

Though open to all, this trip is intended as a way for Intermediate Snowshoeing  students to satisfy their Stewardship requirement by giving back to the local Winter Recreation Community.
