Stewardship - Glacial Heritage Preserve

Join us on a south sound prairie for acorn collection at Glacial Heritage Preserve. We will be teaming with CNLM (Center for Natural Lands Management) as they collect acorns which will be used to plant at their seed farm. The morning will focus on seed collection and if enough seeds are collected the afternoon could include the opportunity to pull scotch broom.

Meet at Glacial Heritage Preserve at 9 a.m. and work until 3 a.m.  Plans to carpool will be developed as we get closer to the event date. Bring a lunch and hydration.  More specific details of the day will be communicated if plans change.

Acorn collection will involve walking through the prairie grassland and scooping up the seeds from the native Garry oak also known as the Oregon white oak. The distance walked will be determined by how abundantly the oaks have produced this year.
