We will launch from the Purdy Boat Launch Ramp at Wauna and travel along the northern edge of Henderson Bay. We'll cross the bay and head to Cutts Island for an early lunch. The tide will be heading towards being low about this time but we should have solid ground to land on. After lunch we will head along the southern shore to an area to look at tide pools and other fun things to see at low tide. We finish our trip heading back across the bay to our launch site. Total distance will be about 9.0nm. If the wind is an issue, we will hug the shore and not cross the open bay but will still get in our 7nm requirement.
A drysuit is required along with a hard shell kayak greater than 14 feet. Bring extra clothes, your lunch and the ten essentials. Perimeter lines are required so that we can practice rescues. Dress warm.
Please note that you need to get leaders permission to sign up for this paddle.
Meet at the Purdy Boat Launch Ramp (7726 WA-302, Gig Harbor, WA 98329, coordinates: 47.379139, -122.64249 (I will have an aerial map in the Email that I send out)). There has always been a porta-potty here and I will double check before the paddle date. We will have our shore talk at 9:30 and will launch shortly afterwards. Please come early enough so that you will be ready to paddle after the shore talk. Give yourself at least an hour, more if there is any question as to how long getting prepared will take. Unload at the ramp and then park in the parking area across the street (Hwy 302).
