Sea Kayaking Student Paddle - Arcadia Point Vicinity

Explore the area around Hope Island State Park. We'll do a bit of introduction to currents, exploration of the Squaxin Island shoreline and Hope Island State Park. There's a minus 2.4' tide that will allow reef viewing after lunch. A bit of rescue practice will top off the day!

  • Sea Kayak II/III
  • Easy
  • Mileage: 7.2
  • Maximum Wind: 10 kts
  • Maximum Waves: 1 ft
  • Maximum Currents: 2 kts
  • Pace: 2 kt

This is primarily an SK-II paddle. The only reason for the SK-III rating is the introduction to currents that we will do at the beginning of the paddle in approximately 2kt currents.

Bring a good lunch and plenty of fluids to drink. We will be out all day - expecting to return around 5pm.

A wet suit or dry suit is required for this paddle.

Meet at the Arcadia Point boat ramp parking lot at 10am. We will plan to be ready to launch by 11am.

There is no fee for parking and there are porta potties available.
