Sea Kayak - Washington Park to Friday Harbor

Paddle from Washington Park, Anacortes to Friday Harbor via Cattle Pass and return via ferry.

  • Sea Kayak IV
  • Challenging
  • Mileage: 23.0 nm

Meet at Washington Park at 6:00am

This is a strenuous and challenging paddle that requires skills in currents, eddies, rips, standing waves and whirlpools. Rescue skills should be up to date and a combat roll is encouraged.

Extra time is required before putting in to arranged a car shuttle and pack extra gear. We will put-in promptly at 7:30am due to timing of currents.

Dry suits, helmets, kayak carts and backup kayak floatation are required. Make sure your kayak cart will fit inside your kayak hatches. Bring plenty of insulation, hot beverage, lunch and a change of clothes/footwear for the ferry ride.

If weather is good, we'll do the paddle as planned.  If wind / waves are unfavorable, the paddle may be cancelled, or an alternate location may be chosen, conditions permitting.

I expect this sea kayak trip to have this difficulty and these conditions.  View the sea kayak difficulties definitions on the Activity Types page.
