Tacoma Narrows

Trip

Sea Kayak - Tacoma Narrows

  • Sea Kayak IV
  • Easy
  • Mileage: 13.0 nm
  • Maximum Wind: 14 kts
  • Pace: 3

Lets have fun.

The plan is to launch at 0900 with the ebb (max 3.79 at 1037) and make our way under the Narrow bridge over to Point Evens (Gig Harbor side). We will stop there for a short break. From there we will cross back over to the Tacoma side to Point Defiance where we will stop for another short break. We will then make our way across to Gig Harbor. We will be stopping by Tides Tavern for anybody that would like to buy lunch and have the choice of the light house or Skansie Park to eat. After lunch (by 2pm), we will follow the shore along to Point Evens then cross to the middle under the Narrows bridge and make our way back to Titlow park.

Please note low tide will be at 1:01pm/-2.35ft with max ebb at 1027 of 3.7kts and high tide will be at 8:40pm/13.08ft with max current 4.6kts at 5:24pm.

There is lots of time to enjoy the paddle, lets have fun and if it's hot we can practice rescues and rolls at Point Defiance or Gig Harbor.

Meeting time and place will be Titlow Beach at 0800 and be ready to launch at 0900. I estimate a return time to Titlow between 3:00 and 4:00 pm.
