Sea Kayak - South Puget Sound: Olympia to Steilacoom

One-way tour of South Puget Sound with a current assist. Requires a car shuttle and an early meeting time.

  • Sea Kayak III/IV
  • Moderate
  • Mileage: 20.0 nm
  • Maximum Wind: 20 kts
  • Maximum Waves: 2.5 ft
  • Maximum Currents: 2.5 kts
  • Pace: 3.5 flat water pace

Meet at Steilacoom ferry landing at 6:30 am to set up the car shuttle. Plan to launch from Swantown Marina in Olympia by 8:30am.

A long current assisted paddle through lower Puget sound. I'm planning on 3 rest stops. Boston harbor, Johnson Point and Eagle Island. Depending on timing we may include rescue and roll practice around Eagle Island.

Please note the wind and wave height set for this paddle. If we are so lucky as to get a strong tail wind this paddle will be held in the listed conditions.

This paddle requires a car shuttle. All participants will need to be able to load 2 kayaks on there vehicle.

With covid in mind car shuttles will have no more than 2 people per vehicle. Masks on and windows down during transit times.

Vaccinations and booster shots required.
