This is a 5 day mid week tour through the San Juan Islands. There will be ample opportunity to hike

We will plan to launch from Washington Park at 12:30  on Sunday  August 22nd. 

Tentative course, weather dependent: 

Sunday August 22nd: Washington Park to Clark Island - 15nm

Monday August 23rd: Clark Island, circumnavigate  and camp on Sucia Island - 10nm

Tuesday August 24th: Clark to Jones Island - 10nm

Wednesday August 25th: south around Shaw Island to Spencer Spit on Lopez Island - 16nm

Thursday August 26th: Return to Washington Park via Thatcher Pass. - 7nm

The goal is to use currents to our advantage and have time to hike and stretch our legs after setting up camp. The trip begins and end by crossing Roserio Straits with a  3.5 knot currents with potential of 4 foot waves. 

Kayaking camping experience is required.

Required Equipment

These eight essentials plus The Ten Essentials are required on all sea kayaking trips.  All but the whistle and clothing should be provided with any kayak rental.

  1. Floatation in both ends of the kayak
  2. U.S. Coast Guard approved Personal Flotation Device (PFD)
  3. Paddle
  4. Spray skirt
  5. Bilge pump with floatation
  6. Self-rescue paddle float
  7. Waterproof whistle
  8. Appropriate clothing for the conditions encountered seasonally
