Trip

Sea Kayak - Ross, Diablo & Gorge Lakes

Snow capped mountains, deep forests, creeks, canyons, waterfalls, rapids, birds and critters provide a paddling paradise on stunning Ross & Diablo lakes. Beautiful campgrounds with no tides to worry about make this a fun and relaxing week for camping and paddling adventures. Immersion wear required and you must have kayak camping experience. Shuttle fees will apply.

  • Sea Kayak III+
  • Moderate
  • Mileage: 50.0 nm
  • Maximum Wind: 20 kts
  • Maximum Waves: 3.0 ft
  • Pace: 3.0+

Paddling and camping plans for the coming week will be dependent on the campsites that are available from the ranger station on the morning of the launch. Participants must be willing and able to handle loaded boats to reach permit destinations regardless of conditions and mileage. You must be willing and able to have your boat and self ready to launch as early as 7 a.m. in order to maximize good paddling conditions so kayak camping experience is required. Forestry service staff cuts may require more effort and flexibility for all participants to insure a good time is had by all.  This trip is also dependent on water level and air quality.  Both must be at acceptable levels by July 1st or trip will be cancelled.  While there will be hiking opportunities you do so at your own risk.
