The Olympic Outdoor Center, Connex that’s located at Port Gamble Bay will open at 9 AM. You’ll have approximately a 1-1/2hrs in which to sign your waiver and paperwork which they require before receiving your dry suit and Kayak equipment package. Please get dressed promptly and get your gear in your kayak and down to the beach no later than 10:45 AM. At which time we’ll have our pre-launching meeting.
Please be sure to bring your completed Paddle Completion sheets to the best of your ability. We will review these at lunchtime at the Foul Weather Bluff game reserve. I recommend you bring it in a Ziploc type bag, so as to not get it wet.
How to dress? I always wear at least two layers of synthetic or blended wool garments on bottom, and one layer of same type of material on top under my dry suit.
Pack a lunch and snacks and something hot in a thermos for lunch or to use on your hands or your feet.
Be sure to bring bottled water.
Also, expect to have a very good time paddling with your newly acquired skills from your basics Sea Kayak course, and have some of the same people that taught you at Brownsville Marina on water sessions, assisting or watching out for you so that you have a safe, good time on the water.
