9:00 AM at Olympic Outdoor Center Port Gamble

Boats and gear rental are available at Olympic Outdoor Center, Port Gamble. Call Olympic Outdoor Center in Port Gamble (360.297.4659) to arrange rental 2 weeks prior to paddle. Mention it is a Mountaineers paddle to receive 10% discount. Not included in rental are booties, gloves, and neoprene cap. Booties and drysuits are required. Gloves and cap are recommended. To expedite the rental  process, please go to Olympic Outdoor Center website and complete the rental form in advance.

We'll paddle around Port Gamble Bay, and then paddle to Salsbury Point Park for wet exit and solo and assisted re-entry practice. Basic strokes, launching and landing practice throughout. Bring lunch, extra warm dry clothes (including a hat, and water bottle as well as other basic sea kayak essentials.) 

Optional: thermos of hot water.  

RENTERS: Stop at Olympic Outdoor Center for paperwork and gear before continuing to the launch site.  

NON-RENTERS: For paddlers who do not need to rent or otherwise stop at the kayak shop, meet at 9:15 AM at launch site. (From Olympic Outdoor Center in Port Gamble, continue straight ahead (north), turn right down the hill. There will be a rack full of kayaks near water.

ALL:  This will be a long day; please do not make plans for the evening, unless it is to meet for group dinner in Kingston after the paddle.
