Sea Kayak - Ketron Island Circumnavigation

This is a student paddle starting and ending in Steilacoom. If conditions are favorable we will paddle around Ketron Island and practice rescues on its southern end, take a lunch break on a public beach and return to Steilacoom with a gentle current assist. If wind or waves are excessive or uncomfortable we can paddle south along the shore to the same practice and lunch sites.

Meeting place:  Boat launch is immediately north of Steilacoom/Anderson Island ferry dock.  Parking (pay lot) is just south of the ferry ramp.  Drop boats at the launch and then park at the pay lot--credit card only last time I was there.

Meeting time:  09:00

Launch time:  10:00

Ketron Island is  all private property and we cannot land on it.  Our lunch site has road access via JBLM and is unimproved.  Toileting is on the beach requiring a short walk south from the lunch site.

We will need to be a cohesive group as we go around the ferry dock both departing and returning.  We will defer to the ferry if there are any encounters.

There are no kayak/drysuit rental opportunities in Steilacoom.
