Hammersley Inlet

Trip

Sea Kayak - Hammersley Inlet

Ride the tides on this classic "Shelton Shuttle". Leaving from Walker Park near Shelton, we'll paddle with the ebbing tide out to Hope Island State Park. After a leisurely lunch waiting for the tide to turn we'll ride the tide back to the launch.

  • Sea Kayak II/III
  • Moderate
  • Mileage: 14.2 nm
  • Maximum Wind: 15 kts
  • Maximum Waves: 1 ft
  • Maximum Currents: 2.5 kts
  • Pace: 3 kt

We will ride the current out Hammersley Inlet, stopping to play along the way at mild eddylines.  After a quick break after playing around Cape Horn, we will continue out to Hope Island for our lunch stop. After lunch as the tide turns, we'll head back into Hammersley Inlet and ride the mild flood back to Walker Park. I expect we will arrive back at the launch around 4pm.

Meet at Walker County Park near Shelton. Be ready to launch by 10:00am

There is no fee for parking or launch. There are bathroom facilities in the park.
