Hammersley Inlet

Trip

Sea Kayak - Hammersley Inlet

Plan to launch from Walker County Park an hour or so after the morning high tide. We'll float/paddle the length of the inlet, enjoying the fall colors, exploring Mill Creek and enjoying the water at the active headlands along the way. After lunch on Hope Island we'll essentially re-trace our route to Walker Co. Park.

  • Sea Kayak III
  • Moderate
  • Mileage: 12.0 nm
  • Maximum Wind: 12 kts
  • Maximum Waves: 1.5 ft
  • Maximum Currents: 3 kts
  • Pace: 2.5 knots +/-

Meet at Walker Park, on Walker Park Road near Shelton. (Google should work). Be prepared to launch at 10:00 AM.

Be prepared for a nice ride on the Shelton Shuttle! There will be brief exposure to quick currents and eddy lines, (that can be bypassed). Combined wind and current could result in short stretches of very challenging conditions.

Please dress and pack for winter, bring your Essentials, warm clothes & spare clothes. A Hot drink is a good idea.
