  • Sea Kayak II+, Easy+
  • For Beginners (Getting Started Series)

Meet at 9 am. On the water by 9:30 and off by 11:30. Park at the south end of the park.

We will stay in the area and practice skills. The techniques practiced will depend on water conditions and participants' choice. The skills session  is accessible to all levels of experience. Strokes, edging,bracing, rescues, towing and rolling are all possibilities.

The Puget Sound water temperature is 50 degrees in November. Drysuit is required.  Wear layers depending on how much time you plan be in the water. Neoprene cap Highly recommended. Nose plugs can be useful.

These seven essentials plus The Ten Essentials are required on all sea kayaking trips.  All but the whistle and clothing should be provided with any kayak rental.

  1. Floatation in both ends of the kayak
  2. U.S. Coast Guard approved Personal Flotation Device (PFD)
  3. Paddle
  4. Spray skirt
  5. Bilge pump with floatation
  6. Self-rescue paddle float
  7. Waterproof whistle
  8. Appropriate clothing for the conditions encountered seasonally
