Goat Island

Trip

Sea Kayak - Goat Island

This is a summer afternoon paddle to take advantage of the relatively high water levels on the tide flats of the river delta. We may have to paddle against the last bit of the flood for the first 1.5 nm to the Fish Hole. We can then explore the wetlands around lovely Ika Island and swing down to the hidden landing on the south side of Goat island and have a leisurely picnic, Huckleberry Finn style. Bring your binoculars. This is my first time leading a kayak trip for The Mountaineers. Excited to become a leader and feel free to share with me comments about how this paddle was for you.

No worries about getting stuck in the mud on this one, we should have at least 7 ft of water on the flats till dark.  Sunscreen, hat, water, lunch, and immersion wear appropriately for the season.  Plan to be back in La Conner by 6 pm, and please join us for oysters and beer at the  local pub afterwards.

Meet under the Rainbow Bridge at the Pioneer Park boat launch in La Conner at 11 am for a launch at high noon.  Porta-potty at launch, parking near launch.
