Randal boat launch in Gig Harbor, ready to paddle at 10 AM
- Difficulty: Moderate. We'll be paddling against the current on one leg.
- Wind: We will paddle with up to 15 kt wind.
- Waves: Will paddle with up to 3 foot wind waves.
- Route: Gig Harbor to Pt. Defiance (quick lunch) to southern tip of Vashon Island, back to Gig Harbor.
- Distance: 7 nm
- Pace: Fast. This will be somewhat of a conditioner.

Required Equipment
These seven essentials plus The Ten Essentials are required on all sea kayaking trips. All but the whistle and clothing should be provided with any kayak rental.
- Floatation in both ends of the kayak
- U.S. Coast Guard approved Personal Flotation Device (PFD)
- Paddle
- Spray skirt
- Bilge pump with floatation
- Self-rescue paddle float
- Waterproof whistle
- Appropriate clothing for the conditions encountered seasonally
- Dry suit required.
