Meet at Fox Island boat launch just off the Fox Island bridge, at 8:15 am.

This is a mentored lead for Barb Motteler.  Please direct questions to Barb.

We will circumnavigate Fox Island clockwise to take advantage of the currents.   Participants should be comfortable paddling  in somewhat dynamic water with potential wind up to 15 kts and wind waves up to 2 feet during portions of this paddle.

We will plan to stop at the Fox Island Fishing Pier for an early lunch.

Dry suit required.  Wear your winter layers.  Bring full finger gloves.  Bring tow belt and VHF radio if you have them.

Required Equipment

These eight essentials plus The Ten Essentials are required on all sea kayaking trips.  All but the whistle and clothing should be provided with any kayak rental.

  1. Floatation in both ends of the kayak
  2. U.S. Coast Guard approved Personal Flotation Device (PFD)
  3. Paddle
  4. Spray skirt
  5. Bilge pump with floatation
  6. Self-rescue paddle float
  7. Waterproof whistle
  8. Appropriate clothing for the conditions encountered seasonally
