Sea Kayak - Cypress Island

Circumnavigate Cypress Island in a day, with currents.

Meet at Washington Park boat launch at 8:00am for shore talk.  Launch by 8:15am.  

We'll paddle around Cypress island, up Rosario and back down through Bellingham channel.  The total distance is about 15nm.  If we average 2.5nm/hr we should complete the route in 6 hours, well before dark.

Expect stops at Strawberry Island, Smugglers Cove, Pelican Beach, and Cypress Head

Participants should be able to sustain a 3.5kt paddling flatwater paddling pace.  Sails welcome.

Max winds for circumnavigating Cypress is 12kt.  If winds are above that we will change to a Burrows-Alan trip.  Will cancel for significant rain, but not light rain.
