Launch is from Jack Hyde Park (1741 N Schuster Pkwy, Tacoma, WA 98402). Arrive with enough time to launch by 10 am.
Paddle plan will be determined on the beach depending on the wind conditions. If there's enough wind to make things interesting, we'll stay close to the launch and practice rolling and rescues in conditions; if it's calm, it'll be a light conditioning paddle to Owen Beach and back, ending with skills practice.
Drysuit required.
Full COVID vaccination required.

Required Equipment
These eight essentials plus The Ten Essentials are required on all sea kayaking trips. All but the whistle and clothing should be provided with any kayak rental.
- Floatation in both ends of the kayak
- U.S. Coast Guard approved Personal Flotation Device (PFD)
- Paddle
- Spray skirt
- Bilge pump with floatation
- Self-rescue paddle float
- Waterproof whistle
- Appropriate clothing for the conditions encountered seasonally
