Chuckanut Bay

Trip

Sea Kayak - Chuckanut Bay

This is an equivalency assessment for some Bellingham based kayakers. We'll choose a route according to conditions of the day. It is likely to be more challenging than a typical equivalency paddle.

  • Sea Kayak III/IV
  • Moderate
  • Mileage: 8.0 nm
  • Maximum Wind: 20 kts
  • Maximum Waves: 5 ft
  • Maximum Currents: 6 kts
  • Pace: 3.5

This is an equivalency paddle for some Bellingham sea kayakers.

I anticipate this trip being more challenging than a typical equivalency outing.  If conditions are rough, we will likely do the trip to Chuckanut bay.  If conditions are milder we will likely choose a more interesting route.  On Feb 21 I'll announce some possible routes.

If you would like to join, please ask for leader's permission and tell me the maximum wind, maximum waves, and maximum currents you are comfortable paddling in.  Also tell me the maximum distance you are comfortable paddling in a day.  Priority will be given to other kayakers seeking equivalency and in the Seattle Equivalency Course, so also state if you are in that course.

Registration closes February 23.  If you hold your registration past that date please also hold a commitment to go on this trip.

Meeting time and place to be determined.  Somewhere convenient to Bellingham.  Possibilities include West Coast of Whidbey, Burrows and Alan, Lummi Island, Eliza Island, and such.
