Meet at Washington Park boat launch for a 8:45 shore talk.

This is a leader update trip for Seattle branch sea kayak leaders.  It is an opportunity to paddle together, learn from each other, and for the leadership sub-committee chair to get to know you.

During the day we will take time to discuss leadership.  Challenges you have, things you want to improve on.  We can talk about risk management.  We can practice paddling skills and risk management exercises.  

Anticipate that you'll swim a couple times.  

This is the first ever leader update.  It is a work in progress.

Required Equipment

These eight essentials plus The Ten Essentials are required on all sea kayaking trips.  All but the whistle and clothing should be provided with any kayak rental.

  1. Floatation in both ends of the kayak
  2. U.S. Coast Guard approved Personal Flotation Device (PFD)
  3. Paddle
  4. Spray skirt
  5. Bilge pump with floatation
  6. Self-rescue paddle float
  7. Waterproof whistle
  8. Appropriate clothing for the conditions encountered seasonally
