Meet:  Boat Ramp at Washington Park, Anacortes

Meet Time:  9AM

Launch Time:  10AM

All participants must show proof of having current Covid Vaccine either by sharing photographic proof of vaccine card with me or by having the Mountaineers Covid Vaccine Verification Badge.

This paddle is initially reserved for students and instructors of the Everett Basic Course 2022.  Will open to others in late July if possible.

Paddle plan:

  • Launch on tail end of ebb
  • Paddle counterclockwise with stop at Burrows Island Light at about 11 for bio break, sightseeing, and early lunch
  • Continue south to paddle around south side of Allan Island.
  • We'll pick up the beginning of the flood in Burrows Bay and then Burrows Pass to ride back to launch site.
  • Paddle is about 7.4nm so at an approximate pace of 2.5nm/hour plus stop at light house and then some rescue practices somewhere along the way I expect we'll be back to launch site around 3PMish.

Required Equipment

These eight essentials plus The Ten Essentials are required on all sea kayaking trips.  All but the whistle and clothing should be provided with any kayak rental.

  1. Floatation in both ends of the kayak
  2. U.S. Coast Guard approved Personal Flotation Device (PFD)
  3. Paddle
  4. Spray skirt
  5. Bilge pump with floatation
  6. Self-rescue paddle float
  7. Waterproof whistle
  8. Immersion Gear - Dry or Wet Suit required
