Anderson Island


Sea Kayak - Anderson Island

Expecting a moderate spring paddle around Anderson Island. Current assist before and after lunch through Balch Passage. Migratory winter birds will be gone but often see marine mammals along this route.

Meeting Place:  Luhr Beach 08:00--pit toilet.  Discover Pass required.

Launch:  09:00

Launching conditions will be favorable.  Current neutral or helping for most of our trip.  Landing will be near low tide so we will need to stay together and follow channel  back to the launch area after crossing homeward from Anderson Island.

Immersion clothing required.

  1. Floatation in both ends of the kayak
  2. U.S. Coast Guard approved Personal Flotation Device (PFD)
  3. Paddle
  4. Spray skirt
  5. Bilge pump with floatation
  6. Self-rescue paddle float
  7. Waterproof whistle
  8. Appropriate clothing for the conditions encountered seasonally
