On Friday, we will camp at Lake Ozette or a nearby campground. We will leave the trailhead early so we have time to explore this amazing place, hiking through the forest 3 miles to Camp Alava, and then down the beach to the southern Sand Point camp. We will reach camp by 2:00 to account for tides. On Sunday, after a leisurely breakfast, we will hike the 3 miles back to Lake Ozette and our cars.
Note that the distances aren’t long, but the beach is very rocky in some sections and backpacking on sand can be challenging.
Note there is about a $10 fee per person for the South Sand Point reservation. Also, the cost of the campsite on Friday night will be split 6 ways. It depends on which campground I can snag, but it will likely be another $5-$10.
In case of heavy rain, this backpack will either be canceled or moved to a drier location.
We will meet on Friday at the Lake Ozette Trailhead. Carpools will be arranged in advance for those who are interested.
