Naturalist Trip - Paradise Valley Conservation Area
Paradise Valley, in the Bear Creek Watershed, has a multitude of mossy trails ideal for winter wandering among trees and shrubs. We will move slowly, renewing our acquaintance with mosses and lichens, looking for the first faint signs of coming spring. The second growth forest is maturing in this newer Snohomish County park

The plan is to do a loop, combining the Whispering Firs, Cascara and Mainline Trails. If time allows we will scout the Lloyd Trail as well. We will stay together, share observations and enjoy the many shades of green of the lowland Pacific Northwest forest. This will be an excellent review opportunity for Moss and Lichen grads but all are welcome. A loupe is highly recommended, and we will bring extras. Bring your Moss and Lichen Chart if you are a graduate of the Course, and you may be able to introduce prospective students to its use.
Trip is expected to last 3-4 hours.
NOTE: THIS TRIP WAS ORIGINALLY SCHEDULED FOR SATURDAY, JANUARY 10. NOW IT IS ON SUNDAY, JANUARY 11 BECAUSE OF CONFLICTING EVENTS.
Let's meet at 9am at the gravel parking lot for the Paradise Valley Conservation Area on Paradise Lake Road.
Note that there may not be restroom facilities at the trailhead, so plan accordingly.
