We will meet at 8:00 am at Nisqually National Wildlife Refuge at the visitor center. The restrooms are open at the visitor center. A refuge entrance pass is required ($3.00 per car or national park pass). Carpools are suggested (e.g. Green Lake/65th P&R, South Renton P&R) and an e-mail will be sent out a few days before the trip.
This trip will be more rewarding if participants bring binoculars and a spotting scope as well if you have one. Also bring a bird book or a bird app (such as Merlin). Bring rain gear. Since we will be moving slowly and there may be a breeze as you leave forest trails and move out onto the estuary boardwalk, you may appreciate extra layers. It is a very beautiful area! Bring a lunch.
The optimum time range for tide levels on the estuary boardwalk to see shorebirds and waterfowl will be reviewed prior to the trip.
