Naturalist Trip - Mercer Slough Nature Park

Join us for a morning of birding. Merccer slough is Lake Washington’s largest remaining wetland, containing hundreds of plant species and an abundance of water resources. We'll walk slowly and stop often on the trails to search for birds for 3-4 hours. The birds are in their breeding plumage so will be a delight to see. This trip is for birders of all levels.

  • Mileage: 3.0 mi
  • Pace: SLOW with many stops

Our goal is to bird together while having  fun, being safe and enjoy this beautiful park.  We will bird for approximately 3-4 hours as a group. The pace is slow and we will stop often.  We'll walk the Heritage Trail and time permiting the Bellefleid loop trail too.

Bring binoculars, scopes, birding apps like the free Merlin app and guides of your choosing.  It’s best to download apps and associated bird packs where internet speeds are best.  These are large files that need time to download.

FYI: There is one person preregisted. This person is providing the transportation for one of our applicant leaders in training and will participate in the birding.

We’ll meet at 8:00am ready to start walking at the South Bellevue Station Park & Ride,  2700 Bellevue Way SE. There are multiple entrances to the area so make sure you come to the south most entrance. This is where the Heritage Trail comes up to the park & ride parking lot (47.585444, -122.189451)

There are no restrooms here so stop along the way.
