Naturalist Trip - McLane Creek Nature Trail

Join us for a short walk to three different stations to view Chum Salmon as they return to their birthplace in McLane Creek to further their population and complete their life cycle. We'll also be able to view a variety of plant and aquatic life along our walk.

  • Easy
  • Casual
  • Mileage: 3.0 mi
  • Elevation Gain: 100 ft
  • Pace: 1.0 mph

Specifics about meeting time and location will be sent to registered participants a few days before the hike.  Plan to meet at the parking area for McLane Creek (Discover Pass required) on the morning of Wednesday, November 29.

It's always rewarding to see these native, wild fish return to their birthplace to complete their life cycle.  We'll walk about 1.5 flat miles (with the opportunity to extend this by about a mile, participant and weather permitting) over trail and potentially slippery boardwalk to three different viewing stations.  Participants will want to dress warmly and in layers as we may do more standing than walking.  We will only cancel this trip if there is a forecast of heavy rain or high winds.  More details to be sent to registered participants a few days before the trip.
