We will hike in sagebrush country and look at wildflowers, birds and geology along the Columbia River in Ginkgo Petrified Forest State Park.

  • Moderate
  • Moderate
  • Mileage: 6.0 mi
  • Elevation Gain: 850 ft
  • Pace: 2.0 mph

We will not be doing much elevation gain.  We will be making plenty of stops for identification and viewing.  This is a good example of sagebrush country.

We will begin with the "Backcountry hike" and, if time allows, we may come back to the interpretive trails later in the day.

Bring sunscreen and binoculars and a hand lens if you have one.

Meet at Ginkgo State Park Visitor center off I-90 in Vantage at 9 AM.  For those carpooling from Seattle we will meet at Greenlake P&R (beneath I-5 at 65th N and north of 65th in the far north park of the lot).
